Advice and Information on Applications and Job Search
Career Advice Services – In Person and Online
Whether you need a quick review of your cover letter during your lunch break, support with an urgent question about your CV, or more extensive individual career guidance, the Career Service team is here to help. All advice services are free of charge and available to KIT students throughout their studies and for up to one year after graduation.If you have a short question about your CV or application documents, you can visit the Career Service consultation desk every Tuesday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The advisory team is located in the Service Office in the Mensa building at Adenauerring, between the staircases leading to food lines 4 and 5. No appointment is required.
On the third Tuesday of every month, we also offer an open Application Café from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Service Office. You can work on your applications, exchange ideas with other students, ask questions, and receive support from a Career Service advisor. Tea and coffee are provided free of charge.If you prefer online support, you can join our open Zoom consultation hour every Thursday from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. Most thesis opportunities at KIT are advertised on our website. They are displayed in a searchable table. You can use the subject-area filters and the keyword search to find topics that match your interests and degree programme.

Job Market
The Job Market contains a wide range of vacancies for KIT students, including internships, working student positions, student assistant jobs, trainee programmes, and graduate entry-level positions.
Several filters are available to help you find suitable opportunities:
- Keyword Search: Enter keywords or phrases to find all job advertisements containing those terms.
- Work Region: Select where you would like to work, for example Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, or international locations outside Germany.
- Field of Study / Degree Programme: Choose a broad subject area or your specific degree programme to find relevant vacancies.
- Type of Position: Filter by contract type or position type, such as permanent employment, internship, or PhD position.
- Career Level: Indicate your level of previous experience.
- Industry: Display only positions offered by employers in a specific industry.
- Company Department: Filter vacancies by department, such as Human Resources, Finance and Accounting, Information Technology, and others.
- Language in the Workplace: Select the primary language used in the workplace and view only matching vacancies.
- German Language Requirement: International students can search for positions that match their level of German language proficiency.
- Company Type: Filter by employer type, such as large corporation, medium-sized company, or start-up.
- Remote Work Options: Show only positions that offer remote or hybrid work opportunities.

Finding Companies
All companies that actively cooperate with the Career Service during the year are listed in the company overview. This includes employers that advertise vacancies, participate in networking events, or engage with students through other Career Service activities.
You can use filters to search for companies by postal code, industry, field of study, and many other criteria. Filtering by postal code is particularly useful if you would like to find employers in a specific region.Company OverviewSome employers also provide a detailed company profile. Student Profile
You can create your own profile on the Career Service website and allow employers to discover you.
To create a profile, log in using your KIT account credentials. You will be guided through a series of forms and can decide which information from your CV and academic background you would like to share with employers.Student Profile – more information
Events with Employers
The Career Service regularly offers events that allow you to connect directly with employers. These events give you the opportunity to meet representatives from HR departments and specialist teams, either on campus or at company locations.
The KIT Career Fair takes place every year in May as an open-air event in front of the Audimax building. It is KIT’s largest career fair and one of the main opportunities for students to connect with employers.
Different companies and organisations participate on each of the two event days, giving you the chance to meet around 180 potential employers from a wide range of industries.
The open-air format creates a relaxed atmosphere that encourages informal conversations and direct exchanges with company representatives.
The Career Service Student Tent offers a variety of additional services, including CV reviews on both days, information sessions on applications and job interviews, guidance on making the most of a career fair, and an information desk where you can ask questions.
For students with visual impairments or blindness, we test a tactile floor guidance system in the Student Tent area to help with orientation. If you would like support during your visit, we can also arrange a companion to accompany you at the fair. Please contact the information desk for assistance.

JOBTalks are networking events that allow you to meet up to four employers in a small-group setting.
Each participating company presents two career paths that are relevant to your field of study. The focus is on personal interaction rather than formal presentations.
After a brief introduction, the companies move to separate discussion tables. Together with a small group of students, you rotate between the tables and speak directly with company representatives. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions, learn about career opportunities, and introduce yourself.
Each event concludes with an informal networking session with snacks and drinks.
Two to four JOBTalks are offered every semester, each focusing on different industries or career topics.JOBTalks – more information

Career Bites are designed for exactly that purpose.
From 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., participating companies that can be reached by tram invite students to visit their sites. You will gain insights into the working environment, take part in a short company tour, and learn which teams are currently recruiting.
The visit concludes with a light lunch or snack, giving you the opportunity to continue conversations with employees in an informal setting.

Meet & Match – Female Career is a small career fair designed specifically for women.
Participating employers actively recruit, support, and promote female talent. The event takes place during the winter semester. The next event will be held on December 1, 2026.
Around 15 companies present career entry opportunities, development programmes, and information about how they support women in the workplace. Students from all fields of study are welcome.

Funding Programmes and Scholarships
Deutschlandstipendium
The Deutschlandstipendium scholarship supports high-achieving students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment, academic excellence, or who have overcome challenging personal circumstances.Recipients receive financial support of 300 euros per month for one year. The programme also provides access to a network of scholarship holders, alumni, and sponsors.

Leadership Talent Academy (LTA)
The Leadership Talent Academy supports students on their path towards becoming responsible and effective leaders.Through a series of workshops, participants explore topics such as values-based leadership, decision-making, conflict management, and personal development.
The programme is funded by the Karl Schlecht Foundation and is aimed at STEM students enrolled in a master's degree programme.

FEMTEC
The Femtec Career Building Programme is a development programme for women and gender-diverse students in STEM who are approaching the end of their bachelor's degree or are already enrolled in a master's programme.
Femtec provides access to a network of companies, mentors, and like-minded students from across Germany.
Through workshops and practice-oriented formats, participants develop the skills and knowledge needed to help shape the future world of work in a sustainable and responsible way.Femtec – more information
Kulturkreis Scholarship
The Kulturkreis Scholarship brings together students, doctoral researchers, and alumni from KIT and the University of Mannheim for a one-year programme exploring the arts and their role in personal and professional development.Through workshops, excursions, and encounters with renowned artists, participants gain insights into creative fields such as film, music, dance, and theatre.
