Description

Billions of devices process sensitive data daily. Secure software relies on secure hardware. Hardware vulnerabilities compromise entire systems. We offer thesis projects in applied hardware security. You can choose to break systems or defend them.
Focus Areas

Select one of three core tracks for your research:

1. Side-Channel Attacks (SCA)
  • Extract secret keys by observing physical properties.
  • Measure power consumption, electromagnetic emissions, or timing variations.
  • Develop attack methods or analyze existing vulnerabilities on target devices.

2. Fault Attacks (FA)
  • Inject faults into devices during active operation.
  • Use EM, voltage glitches, or clock manipulation.
  • Force errors to bypass security checks or extract cryptographic data.

3. Countermeasures
  • Design defenses against SCA and FA techniques.
  • Implement masking, hiding, or hardware redundancy.
  • Evaluate the performance and resource overhead of your security designs.

What We Provide
  • Access to specialized hardware security equipment.
  • Advanced oscilloscopes, EM stations, climate chamber and FPGA evaluation boards.
  • Close supervision and technical guidance.
  • Integration into an active research team.
