Beschreibung
To exploit the resolution capability of the 3D USCT III, precise knowledge (better than half the wavelength, approximately 0.2 mm) of the geometry of the measurement aperture is required. Due to construction constraints, this level of accuracy cannot be guaranteed, which is why a geometric calibration is now to be carried out after assembling the system. In prior work a method has been developed for the predecessor system USCT II and a re-implementation of this method for 3D USCT III was recently completed. Yet, the method does not reliably enable calibration at the necessary high precision. The goal of this thesis is to analyze possible reasons for mis-calibrations with simulated data and to optimize the method accordingly. E.g. one option may be to add considerably more measurements to the calibration process such that the method is able to cope better with outliers. Subsequently, the quality of the calibration is to be assessed using appropriate experimental data. The objective is to develop an automatic method that can be repeatedly applied throughout the lifetime of the 3D USCT III to ensure consistently accurate knowledge of the system state with regard to the geometric arrangement of the transducers.Voraussetzung
